Driving from Johannesburg to Kruger National Park for that astonishing safari exploration, we arrived and stayed in Mpumalanga guest house, that is, Bubezi Guest House.
It takes a six-hour drive to reach Mpumalanga if you’re coming from Johannesburg. It might be then worth considering to stay in the area for a couple of days. Aside from discovering the diverse African bush landscape and the animals at Kruger National Park, there are other beautiful sights you can visit like Three Rondavels, Lisbon Falls, and Bourke’s Luck Potholes.
Mpumalanga Guest House
Whether you stay in Mpumalanga guest house or Mpumalanga lodges, you can definitely find a cheap accommodation in Hazyview. Deriving its name from the summer haze, Hazyview is a farming town in Mpumalanga. Deciding to stay at a Hazyview guest house is a good idea because the place is already near Kruger National Park gates.
Bubezi Safaris and Guesthouse
Fortunately, Bubezi Safaris where we availed our safari tour also offers accommodations in Mpumalanga.
Bubezi Safaris is a safari tour company in South Africa that provides a number of safari tour packages and accommodation in Hazyview. Having 20 years of experience in South Africa’s national parks, they have specialties in Kruger National Park and the Timbavati Private game reserve. Aside from South Africa, they also have safari tours in Botswana, Zimbabwe, and Namibia.
Bubezi Guesthouse Accommodation
It’s true when they say Bubezi Guesthouse is home away from home. The small front desk immediately greeted us when we entered the premises and Carol, our gracious host, welcomed us. After settling needed requirements, we continue to get inside. The guesthouse really gave that homey vibe that it felt like staying at a place of someone we knew.
Our accommodation consisted of a king size bed and a single bed. We got a spacious room that actually had a maximum capacity of four pax. We were the only ones booked at the time and we were even offered to use the other room (note that this was before the covid pandemic). We decided to stay together in our room. What they just did was add another single bed.
It was indeed a comfortable stay, our room was organized and clean. We had our own bathroom that was spacious and tidy as well. Just note that in this specific room that we had, there was no door separating the bedroom and the bathroom.
Also, Bubezi Guesthouse is not a self-catering accommodation as there is no kitchen available where you can cook your own food. But you can avail their breakfast and they even have a bar area with a nice view.
Bubezi Guesthouse Amenities
Bubezi Guesthouse is complete with basic necessities. Our non-smoking room is air-conditioned, a ceiling fan is even provided. The following are also provided: toiletries, hairdryer, coffee/tea, safe, and television. There is free wi-fi as well. You can also be guaranteed with a quite stay as they are strict with noises.
More importantly, private parking is available that is also free. It was even nice of them to pack our breakfast because we were headed out very early the next day for our safari tour.
Parts of Mpumalanga is known to be a malaria risk area (low risk only, with September to May considered as the malaria season). We visited during May and we even asked Carol about it. She assured us that there were no mosquitoes in the guesthouse or in the area. Throughout our stay, we did not see any mosquitoes or flies.
Overall
If you’re looking for affordable lodges in Mpumalanga or any accommodation near Kruger National Park Mpumalanga, Bubezi Guesthouse located in the town of Hazyview is definitely a good place to stay. Traveling from Hazyview to Kruger National Park will just be a piece of cake and will only take a short while. Aside from good facilities, Carol was definitely a wonderful host. We were really delighted to avail both our Mpumalanga guest house accommodation and safari tour from Bubezi Safaris.
