I’ve been to Kahuna Beach Resort and Spa for our company’s summer getaway. Located in San Juan, La Union, travel time from Manila is around four hours. Kahuna Beach Resort and Spa is conveniently situated along Urbiztondo Beach so anytime you feel like surfing, the waters will be waiting right in front of you.
About Kahuna Beach Resort and Spa
Kahuna Beach Resort and Spa boasts of its Bali inspired rooms. The resort has a refreshing garden ambience while offering a view of a remarkable sunset. You can just sit back and relax along the pleasant La Union beach at Kahuna Resort but they do offer tours like exploring Tangadan falls and adventure packages like diving and biking.
Accommodation
During our visit at Kahuna Beach Resort and Spa, we stayed at their rest house that has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. The rest house is really suitable for our small group.
I was able to stay at the master’s bedroom that has a nice balcony overlooking a private lap pool. It also has a wonderful view of the beach. The spacious bathroom was complete with toiletries and equipped with hot and cold shower.
Air-conditioned rooms have working table, flat screen TV, coffee and tea setup, safety deposit box, and mini bar. All rooms at the rest house are located on the second floor. I really like the earth tone color scheme of the interiors and the wooden accent of Kahuna Beach Resort and Spa.
The rest house also has a spacious living room, kitchen, and dining area. We also enjoyed our private access to the lap pool.
San Juan Surfing
Surfing at La Union is probably among the most popular things you can do in the province as it is referred to as the surfing capital of the northern Philippines. This is why people flock San Juan La union resorts like Kahuna Beach Resort and Spa. Just like our group, we want something more than our usual summer team building activity. Also, we had so much fun surfing in Baler during our stay in Costa Pacifica.
You can come across a number of La union beach where you can enjoy surfing one of which is the Urbiztondo beach. Waves here are also suitable for beginner surfers. As such, you can find several La Union resorts along the stretch of Urbiztondo beach. During my first-time visit at the place, we stayed at the popular San Juan Surf resort. That was also my first surfing experience where I had so much fun.
Kahuna Beach Resort and Spa partnered with La Union surf school that has a certification from Academy of Surfing Instructors in Australia. If you want, you can avail from their different surfing lesson packages like Surfing 101 (1.5 hours surf lesson) and 1 Day Surf Lesson (3 hours surf lesson).
You can also just stroll along the beach and you will find surf instructors offering lessons. You can also just rent surf boards if you don’t need a trainer anymore.
Surf season is from October to March although waves are generally present even during off-peak season. If you’re just trying out the sport, you can still do so even without the gigantic waves.
