Located roughly six hours away from Manila in Sitio Paraiso, Catanauan Quezon, Catanauan Cove is the perfect hideaway for those who wanted to forget the busy city life.
It’s a Shore Thing
Swimming Pool
As you enter the resort, Catanauan Cove’s pool will welcome you. It’s not that big but it is very clean. Pool water gets deeper towards the middle so if you don’t know how to swim, you can stay at any side of it.
The pool is located near the pavilion where meals are being served but requires a number of steps from the rooms. Make sure to bring the things you need like towel when you get to the pool. A few pool lounge chair is also made available.
Beach
Walking past through the pool is where you can find the resort’s beach. You can watch the sunset with their nipa hut cottages facing the serene sea. In the morning, you can enjoy walking in the two-kilometer stretch beach shoreline.
You can also spend a fine afternoon in one of their hammocks.
What might bother you a little swimming at the beach is the presence of a number of jellyfish. Some of my colleagues suffered from jellyfish stings. You can find them even near the shore.
Hit the Hay
We stayed in their duplex beachfront room which is spacious enough even for 6 people. Both the room and bathroom are clean. Towels are provided but you have to bring your own toiletries.
Other Amenities
Aside from swimming, you can also enjoy their kayaking and snorkeling. At the same time, they have beach volleyball and ATV. Frisbee can also be played (just bring your own disc).
On the Plate
Food is not much varied but is in generous serving. I am just happy to eat Filipino dishes especially for breakfast. And being served with a simple brewed coffee gives me comfort away from home.
Members of the staff are accommodating and courteous.

Thank you very much, Roy!!! Summer is the best time to travel here, around April – May. But that can also mean a flock of tourists in the beaches. If that is not a prob with you, then April-May is good. For a lesser crowd, feb-march can also be an option. Feb is a bit colder. I think they did as well as can be done to offer a nice place to stay pero I think the prices are kinda steep, isn’t it? Food looks delicious and I life Filipino food. I never liked pools so beach is important for me. Jellyfish are not deal breakers for me.
I like it that there is a pool on this resort. However, I am afraid about the jellyfish signage. Summer’s when people go on swimming yet it’s risky because of the jellyfish. 🙁

Jelly fish and sea urchins are fun spoilers. I was stung by a sea urchin and my toe has not completely recovered yet. Boy it’s painful!
I can see myself lounging on one of those hammock! Though the jelly fishes are a bit of a letdown especially if you’ll be swimming with kids. Good thing they have a pool. Is it kid friendly?
I don’t have any idea about this resort until this. I find them quite pricey, though I guess, what you paid there was the ambiance and peaceful surroundings. Somehow, it reminds me of Anvaya Cove.
I like beaches, but not swimming in them. I’m still recovering from a sea urchin scare several years ago. I’d love to stay by the huts though – and just look at the beach. Haha. It’s great that they have a pool option though.
