We visited Ludo Boardgame Bar and Cafe for our friends’ double birthday celebration. We’ve been to some themed cafes before but it was our first time to try one with board games as gimmick.
About Ludo Boardgame Bar and Cafe
Ludology is the study of board games, hence, the name of the cafe. Ludo Boardgame Bar and Cafe is the first of its kind in Manila. They offer a library of hundreds of playable games that can entice aficionados and beginners alike.
The Atmosphere
Ludo Boardgame Bar and Cafe has a casual vibe – a place where you would want to hang out with your friends. It can also be a cool spot to bond with your family. Adhering to its theme, you can find shelves of board games decorating the cafe. It can be noisy every now and then especially when players get competitive. I tell you, there are some games that would make you raise your voice. And even test your group’s friendship, LOL.
Games
Several members of the staff are just around and can facilitate the game for your group. You can also ask suggestions from them regarding what game to play. They can explain the rules for your group as well.
You can be overwhelmed by the number of games to choose from especially if it’s your first time. One tip is to choose one depending on the time you intend to stay. There are games that require long hours to play. With the short span of time that we stayed, we were able to play quite a number of games.
Food
Food was just ok – nothing exceptional. But I’d say it was good to keep you full while playing or if you want to munch on some snacks.
We ordered the following: Cheese Gyoza (PHP185), Classic French Fries (PHP220), Creamy Mushroom Carbonara (PHP250), Classic Spaghetti Bolognese (PHP250), and Grilled Chicken Rigatoni with Pesto Alfredo Sauce (PHP280).
For our drinks, we had Triple Chocolate Chip Milkshake (PHP250) and some coffee towards the end of our game.
Board Games for Sale
Yup, you can buy board games in the cafe or you can order online and have it delivered. It’s a nice gift idea.
Overall
Our group really enjoyed playing at Ludo’s Board Game Bar & Cafe. Each of us was able to unleash our competitive spirit, HAHA. If we only had extra time, we definitely wanted to stay longer. There were some games we planned to play next time so we will surely come back. Playing was definitely a stress reliever!
