About Nemiranda Arthouse
Located in Angono, Rizal, the lovely art capital of the Philippines, Nemiranda Arthouse was designed by Mr. Nemi Miranda himself utilizing native materials like bamboo and sawali. He also included recycled materials from old churches and convents in Angono. From the outside, you knew the entire place is an art work in itself. Nemiranda Arthouse serves as an atelier cafe museum and art gallery.
Nemiranda Arthouse Experience
My visit to Nemiranda Arthouse will always be one of my beautiful travel memories. It was one of those days when me and my friends would drive around to explore nearby places and sit down for some nice food and amazing conversation. It may be a long time ago since we visited Nemiranda Arthouse but I always wanted to write this experience because it was a simple, wonderful day that made me really happy.
Our day was almost about to end having visited Rizal destinations including Angono Petroglyphs and Pinto Art Museum. We also just had lunch at the beautiful Crescent Moon Cafe. To cap our day, we found ourselves relaxing at Nemiranda Arthouse.
At the entrance of the atelier cafe and restaurant was what they call higantes or giant paper mache puppets. I’ve never been to the popular Higantes Festival of Angono so I was glad to see some of them at Nemiranda Arthouse.
The atelier cafe and restaurant really encompassed a homey and charming vibe. It was a nice place for that warm afternoon conversation. We ordered some favorite Filipino merienda or snacks – turon and halo-halo. We had them paired with some refreshments.
At the time we visited, it was free to roam around the art gallery if you ate at the cafe otherwise you pay for a minimal fee going around the museum. We were hoping to meet the great artist himself, Mr. Nemi Miranda, but unfortunately, he was giving an art workshop in a nearby mall.
While enjoying our snacks, we were just amazed with the amazing art works surrounding us. Most of them were for sale (many at six-digit price!). Surely, we did not content ourselves with the art works displayed at the cafe. We roamed around the galleries which we had all to ourselves at the time.
Nemiranda Arthouse Gallery
The fascinating Nemiranda Arthouse is home not only to a number of beautiful and unique paintings. The wooden sculptures were equally astonishing depicting Filipino folklore and culture. A passionate sculptor, Mr. Nemi Miranda is also called the Father of Imaginative Figurism.
Murals can also be sighted at the place. I also like the wooden furniture that decorated the gallery.
Overall
There may have been a lot of improvement at Nemiranda Arthouse at present. But I will always remember the place for that wonderful afternoon. Its charming and intimate atmosphere made way for that memorable moment with my friends whom I miss a lot especially during the pandemic. It was really such a good old time.
And even though sometimes you don’t want people crowding a place because you like it quiet and all to yourself, I hope there will be more visitors that will get to appreciate the beauty that Nemiranda Arthouse is.
Maybe you need inspiration and an Angono tourist spot such as Nemiranda Arthouse might be all you need to keep your creative juice flowing. Or probably you just need to take a sit and slow down. An alluring Nemiranda Arthouse may be the perfect setting. It may leave you a warm memory just like it did with me.
