Exploring the Stunning Pinto Art Museum

A favorite Antipolo tourist spot, the stunning Pinto Art Museum lines up as one of the most instagrammable museums in the world along with Louvre Museum in Paris, France and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, USA.

Aside from the National Museum of the Philippines, I consider Pinto Art Museum as one of the art galleries you should visit in the country. When looking for places to go in Antipolo, it is one destination that really comes to mind. This is why when we went on a drive to Rizal, we were more than excited to see what Pinto Art Museum has to offer.

Pinto Art Museum History

The word pinto means door in Filipino language. Dr. Joven Cuanang, Filipino neurologist and art enthusiast, founded Pinto Art Museum in 2010 to publicly exhibit his art collection. Even before Pinto Art Museum opened its doors to the public, Dr. Cuanang opened his beautiful home to artists to create and hone their craft. Later, he even lent his place to these talented individuals to give them an exhibition space. This exhibition venue is now what we know as the Pinto Art Museum.

While I thought that the name of the gallery may somehow be related to it literally having beautiful doors, it indeed paved opportunities for brilliant artists.

Today, Pinto Art Museum opens its beautiful doors to everyone to share spectacular art pieces. The term pinto was actually used to symbolize the attempt of the place and its collection to connect people, communities, and the world at large.

Pinto Art Gallery

Pinto Art Museum has several spacious galleries displaying well-curated paintings and sculptures. Aside from these remarkable pieces, you will also sight unique art installations in the place.

The art pieces are remarkable but it’s worth noting that the design of the different galleries is also beautifully created. It has that welcoming vibe that is encouraging even for those new to art appreciation. It doesn’t felt like a regular museum that you might be pressured to know and understand things. It gave me the impression that art is what your interpretation of it to be and there should be no judgment in that.

Pinto Art Museum has a diverse set of art pieces. During our visit, I personally find some pieces heavy and daunting, some I felt was just not for me. I was affected. It was my first time to experience something like this having visited other museums before. One important thing I got from the place was that it made me realized what I wanted in art and what I don’t appreciate much.

Pinto Art Museum Landscape

Pinto Art Museum is stunning inside out. The huge complex housing the museum was remarkably designed that a lot of people consider it as a charming photo shoot venue. Even the two-hectare botanical garden was beautifully landscaped. It’s a wonderful place to just walk around and take things slowly. Every corner of the place is truly photogenic.

Pinto Art Museum Tips

  • To maximize your visit, allot at least half of your day to explore the place. Aside from the museum having a massive art collection, the entire location is a stunningly designed. You may want to spend some time as well to take those instagrammable shots or just simply take a relaxing walk around.
  • As with most tourist destination, you may want to avoid the crowd by visiting on weekdays or avoiding the holidays.
  • You can also get a guided tour to better understand the art collection of the place.
