Discovering a number of stunning Laguna falls is a quick adventure you can do and enjoy from Manila.
The province of Laguna is one of the favorite getaways from the metro. There a number of destinations you can include if you decide to take on a Laguna road trip. But if you want to get a break with nature, several waterfalls in Laguna can leave you in awe.
How to Explore Laguna Falls
There are numerous tour operators offering trips to Laguna including exploring its waterfalls. You can find and join group tours to discover Laguna falls. But going to the province from Manila is also easy so there are other travelers who prefer to explore by themselves (along with the local guides of course). You can either drive on your own or take public transportation. To commute going to Laguna from Manila, bus trips are available from Cubao or Buendia terminals.

If you’re into trekking, exploring Laguna Falls will be a piece of cake. But if you’re not much into an active lifestyle, prepare for a bit of hiking. A short trail is usually needed to reach some falls. You may cross small streams or even climb on rocks or use ropes.
Other important tips:
- Don’t forget to wear sunscreen.
- Bring bottled water.
- Wear comfortable footwear that can also get wet.
- Bring extra clothes because you might want to get a dip.
- Use a waterproof bag for your belongings.
- Better to use a waterproof camera.
Laguna Falls You Should Visit
If you’re in search for some falls near Manila, Laguna falls are certainly some of the best ones you can see! One day is definitely not enough to explore them all. Below are some Laguna falls you should visit.
Hulugan Falls
A short hike is needed to get to Hulugan Falls Laguna. I’ve been to a number of waterfalls in the country and I can say that Hulugan Falls or Luisiana Falls is definitely one of the most spectacular ones I’ve seen. The soaring waterfalls will certainly leave you in awe even from afar.
As you get closer, splashes of water will start to give you a drizzle. When you finally approach Hulugan Falls, you will definitely get wet from light showers coming from the waterfall itself. There is actually no area near the falls that you will not get wet.
You can also find a huge cave beside Hulugan Falls and standing at this spot will give you a different perspective of the site. There are also huge rocks you can climb that will definitely give a remarkable photo.
Even though they are not really alike, Hulugan Falls somehow reminded me of the majestic Niagara Falls in Canada.
Aliw Falls
If there is an underrated Laguna Falls, it probably has to be Aliw Falls. From afar, I thought it resembles the famous Shifen waterfalls in Taiwan. Maybe it’s just me but I find Aliw Falls more splendid than Shifen. When there’s not much water, the beautiful rock formation beneath is revealed allowing for that multiple layers of cascading water. Some travelers would even climb these huge rocks and get soak with the cold waters.
And the bonus part? Aliw Falls Laguna can be reached easily. After a relaxing 20-minute walk, you will find it quietly tucked in nature.
Hidden Falls
Luisiana also has its Hidden Falls. It’s definitely hidden as you have to climb huge rocks while holding on to a rope to see it. Sometimes you have to wait before you can ascend to it because there cannot be too many people at the same time climbing Hidden Falls Laguna.
During our visit we had to wait for our turn and we waited a bit long that we almost gave up on it. We don’t know why it was taking so much time, we were just told that there were still some people ahead of us and they had to go down before we can climb our way.
When we finally reached Hidden Falls, I understood all the waiting and the traffic. There is no flat or even area where you can stay. You’ll gaze on Hidden Falls while staying atop huge rocks that only a limited number of people can occupy.
Talay Falls
Talay Falls is a small, two-tiered waterfall. Before you can climb Hidden Falls, you’ll first see Talay Falls. Depending on your pace, you can probably reach it from Hulugan Falls for about an hour. It may not be as remarkable as the other Laguna falls but it can provide you with a rejuvenating dip as well. You can easily climb and even cross its top. It’s a wonderful time to unwind with the surrounding nature that is both enchanting and refreshing.
What Laguna Falls are included in your bucket list? These natural gems are just a few hours away from Manila. They can really make for a therapeutic and adventure-filled weekend getaway. List these natural wonders as some of Laguna destinations or places to visit in Laguna you should not miss.
